What we print as booklets

Page counts: always a multiple of four

A saddle-stitched booklet is made from sheets folded in half, so every sheet adds four pages. Your page count — including the front and back covers — needs to be a multiple of four: 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and so on. A 14-page file becomes 16 pages with two blank or added pages. Saddle-stitching works best up to about 80 pages; thicker books are better as spiral or GBC bound.

Binding options

Paper, covers and color

Interiors are usually standard text-weight paper, with heavier gloss or matte stocks for photo-heavy catalogs. Covers can be the same paper as the inside (a "self cover") or a heavier cover stock for a sturdier feel. Choose black-and-white interiors for text-heavy manuals and handbooks, or color for photos, catalogs and promotional pieces — a color cover with a black-and-white interior is a common money-saver.
